I'm not a game developer, why should I care?

Because building a game makes you a better developer. And app interfaces are becoming more like games.

Three ideas from game development that can help you build better user interfaces.
  1. Minimize and isolate state.
  2. Use deterministic, immediate-mode rendering.
  3. Separate rendering and simulation.
