Designing the Product vs. Designing the Experience presented by GilbertLee
TLDR: UX can be summed up by: the product, the person, and the business.
An example: prescription drug bottles have bad user experience. Hard to read. Not hierarchical. Most important information small. This has lead to people taking the wrong medications.
Deborah Adler developed the ClearRX bottle to solve these problems. Pillpack has taken this further. Designing from the perspective of a user. It packages pills in individual packets for times of the day, all presented in a "tape".
User experience is the overall experience of a person using a product, where the needs and wants of the person match the design of the business.
Directed discovery is a product development process. It has four parts:
- Personas
- Voice of the customer.
- Customer preference testing.
- Customer confirmation testing.
