Keynote: Learn It Forward presented by Dr. Leslie Jensen-Inman
TLDR: Make education central to your organization.
The four stages of learning are:
- Unconscious incompetence. You don't know, what you don't know.
- Conscious Incompetence. You know what you're doing wrong, but you don't know how to do it right. This stage helps youo move-on to the next one...
- Conscious Competence. I know how to do it right, but I have to concentrate to do it. I really have to concentrate.
- Unconscious Competence. We're in the flow. We know how to do it right, without thinking. It's hard for an expert, in this stage, to teach someone how to do it right.
Written reflection uncovers the details of our experiences.
If you don't know what you learned (from an experience), you didn't learn anything.
We've all been in environments where not knowing something can hurt you. That makes us hesitant. Create an environment where this is okay.
Mistakes are just experiences with outcomes you'd like to delete. Successes are experiences with outcomes that you'd like to repeat.
When was the last time you truly did anything meaningful by myself, without the help of anyone else?
