How to Build a Revenue Generating Robot by @EricBoggs #bmancsc

TL;DR: You can build a revenue-generating robot for your business by automating many mundane tasks.

So, what is a revenue generating robot?
It's automated. It's business-driven. It tends to be driven by software or technology. It needs to be perpetual.

An example:
  1. User completes a form.
  2. Data goes to CRM.
  3. User gets and auto-email
  4. Sales rep gets a notification.

Another example: http://x.ai - who helps schedule meetings for you.

Parts for a revenue-generating robot
  1. Process- you need to really understand what you're automating. You need a process map. Look for spreadsheets- these are ripe for automation.
  2. Applications- you can use apps to borrow functionality, store data, and enable your team.
  3. APIs- you need to source data and move it from place to place in order to complete tasks. Ask a question and get an answer back.
  4. People- you can create magic when you augment technology processes with human inputs. For example: what is a company's phone number? what is the best category for this product? does this match that?

Ideas- now that you understand the topics and processes, what can you automate?

Things you can try:
  1. Look for spreadsheets- these are opportunities to automate.
  2. Setup an account on Mechanical Turk and create a batch.
  3. Talk to your IT team about building a robot.
