What I learned at #DSCLT (Day One Edition)
Digital Summit is great. It can, however, be a little overwhelming. That's why I take notes from the sessions I attend. Here are mine- perhaps they can help you, too.In the opening keynote by Thom Gruhler I learned about the current state of advertising. Its changed a lot, over the last few years. We, as marketers, need to adapt accordingly or we'll miss out. Some of these adaptations involve better following people through the marketing cycle. To do that we need to be able to better track people through the buying process.
Next, I attended Susan Wenograd's presentation on "Facebook Ads: Mastering the Power of the Demographic Fire Hose". The short version of this presentation: don't approach Facebook Ads like you might approach other digital ad platforms. Facebook Ads are their own, unique beast. Treat them as such.

Third was "Going Mobile: Adjust Your Marketing Strategy to Fit in a Mobile-First World" by Anne Gherini. Anne pointed out that the once-prominent mobile app is falling out of favor. Now you need to focus on making your site mobile-friendly.

Lastly I attended Daniel Lemin on "Why Online Reviews Are The Future of Local & Search Marketing". Daniel spoke about why reviews are important and how to get more of them.
